Prophetic Missional Role

Prophetic Gift Clusters:
Understanding Your
Missional Blend

While some people primarily receive the apostolic gift, many others are a blend of two or three dominant missional gift roles.  These personal blends when combined with a believer's experience, education, spiritual gifts, and personality create a uniquely gifted person whom God has chosen for a specific missional purpose.

Prophetic Gift Clusters are a unique blending or missional gift mix that combines secondary and tertiary (third) APEPT roles with the prophetic role.  Your prophetic gifting may center around one of these gift clusters.

Prophetic-Apostolic (PrA) Gift Cluster

Pioneering Examiners

The Apostolic Prophet (PrA) Gift Cluster blends the primary prophetic gifted role with a secondary emphasis on apostolic roles.  This gift mix produces “Pioneering Examiners” who may believe they are called to create new ways to improve the success rate of ministries and new church starts and improve the networking between missional ministries in order to foster peer-to-peer learning of best ministry practices.  To prepare for this type of ministry you will need to identify the spiritual and cultural issues both inside and outside the congregation or church.  You may need to appraise current spiritual & cultural realities so that new ministry methods and new congregations can be properly started.  You may also need to alert missional teams and churches regarding your assessment by using new delivery methods that would gain their understanding and acceptance.  The intense desire and ability you have to analyze and critique the situation in which you find yourself may need to be tempered in order to both maintain a godly attitude yourself and to gain a hearing of those who can affect change.  "Doing things better while doing things new" becomes a theme that drives much of this person's orientation.

Variants of the Prophetic-Apostolic Gift Cluster

The following APEPT gifted blends are variants of the Apostolic-Prophetic Gift Cluster:

  • Prophetic-Apostolic
  • Prophetic-Apostolic-Evangelistic
  • Prophetic-Apostolic-Pastoral
  • Prophetic-Apostolic-Teaching

Prophetic-Evangelistic (PrE) Gift Cluster

Advancing Examiners

The Evangelistic Prophet (PrE) Gift Cluster blends the primary prophetic gifted role with a secondary emphasis on evangelistic roles.  This gift mix produces “Advancing Examiners” who may believe they are called to improve evangelistic methods and presentations and improve the active involvement of believers in evangelization activities.  To prepare for this type of ministry you will need to identify the spiritual and cultural issues both inside and outside the congregation or church.  You may need to appraise spiritual & cultural conditions so that the gospel message can be adjusted to address current realities.  You may also need to alert missional teams and churches regarding your assessment so that the believers can be mobilized in appropriate ways.   The intense desire and ability you have to analyze and critique the situation in which you find yourself may need to be tempered in order to maintain a godly attitude yourself.  The urgency you feel concerning the need to share the gospel may need to be tempered with the need to cultivate the spiritual soil around you – both among non-believers who need to hear the message and believers that need to be mobilized to share the gospel.  "Doing things better while doing things now" becomes a theme that drives much of this person's orientation.

Variants of the Prophetic-Evangelistic Gift Cluster

The following APEPT gifted blends are variants of the Prophetic-Evangelistic Gift Cluster:

  • Prophetic-Evangelistic
  • Prophetic-Evangelistic-Apostolic
  • Prophetic-Evangelistic-Pastoral
  • Prophetic-Evangelistic-Teaching

Prophetic-Pastoral (PrPa) Gift Cluster

Relating Examiners

The Pastoral Prophet (PrPa) Gift Cluster blends the primary prophetic gifted role with a secondary emphasis on pastoral roles.  This gift mix produces “Relating Examiners” who may believe they are called to improve the coaching or mentoring of believers and the harmonious collaboration of missional teams.  To prepare for this type of ministry you will need to identify the spiritual and cultural issues both inside and outside the congregation or church.  You may need to appraise spiritual & cultural conditions so that believers can be discipled in light of these current realities.  You may also need to alert missional teams and churches regarding your assessment so that they can grow spiritually as they address internal and external issues.  The intense desire and ability you have to analyze and critique the situation in which you find yourself may need to be tempered in order to maintain a godly attitude yourself.  Your desire to foster interpersonal relationships may also need to be tempered if the quest for harmony prevents current realities from being addressed.     "Doing things better while doing things together" becomes a theme that drives much of this person's orientation.

Variants of the Prophetic-Pastoral Gift Cluster

The following APEPT gifted blends are variants of the Prophetic-Pastoral Gift Cluster:

  • Prophetic-Pastoral
  • Prophetic-Pastoral-Apostolic
  • Prophetic-Pastoral-Evangelistic
  • Prophetic-Pastoral-Teaching

Prophetic-Teaching (PrT) Gift Cluster

Establishing Examiners

The Teaching Prophet (PrT) Gift Cluster blends the primary prophetic gifted role with a secondary emphasis on teaching roles.  This gift mix produces “Establishing Examiners” who may believe they are called to improve the training of ministry (worship, instruction, fellowship, outreach & service) and missional leaders by better analysis of the sociocultural context as it relates to scripture and by better management of training processes.  To prepare for this type of ministry you will need to identify the spiritual and cultural issues both inside and outside the congregation or church.  You may need to appraise spiritual & cultural conditions so that believers can be adequately trained as missional leaders.  You may also need to alert missional teams and churches regarding your assessment so that leadership development processes can address current realities.  The intense desire and ability you have to analyze and critique the situation in which you find yourself may need to be tempered in order to maintain a godly attitude.  Your desire for efficiency and orderliness may need to be tempered if it produces a “hardening of the categories” that prevents flexibility and adaptability.    "Doing things better while doing things right" becomes a theme that drives much of this person's orientation.

Variants of the Prophetic-Teaching Gift Cluster

The following APEPT gifted blends are variants of the Prophetic-Teaching Gift Cluster:

  • Prophetic-Teaching
  • Prophetic-Teaching-Apostolic
  • Prophetic-Teaching-Evangelistic
  • Prophetic-Teaching-Pastoral
