Evangelistic Missional Role

Evangelistic Gift Clusters:
Understanding Your
Missional Blend

While some people primarily receive the evangelistic gift, many others are a blend of two or three dominant missional gift roles.  These personal blends when combined with a believer's experience, education, spiritual gifts, and personality create a uniquely gifted person whom God has chosen for a specific missional purpose.

Evangelistic Gift Clusters are a unique blending or missional gift mix that combines secondary and tertiary (third) APEPT roles with the evangelistic role.  Your evangelistic gifting may center around one of these gift clusters.

Evangelistic-Apostolic (EA) Gift Cluster

Pioneering Persuaders

The Apostolic Evangelist (EA) Gift Cluster blends the primary evangelistic gifted role with a secondary emphasis on apostolic roles.  This gift mix produces “Pioneering Persuaders” who may believe they are called to share the gospel with others by developing new evangelistic approaches and facilitating connections between believers and non-believers.  To prepare for this type of ministry you will need to know how to share the gospel with people from different worldview & cultural backgrounds.   You may need to learn how to share the gospel more effectively by developing new contextual approaches.  You may also need to mobilize believers in outreach using new approaches and methods that are culturally appropriate.  The urgency you feel concerning the need to share the gospel may need to be tempered with the need to cultivate the spiritual soil around you – both among non-believers who need to hear the message and believers that need to be mobilized to share the gospel – and the need to gain the support and cooperation of believers who can affect change.  "Doing things now while doing things new" becomes a theme that drives much of this person's orientation.

Variants of the Evangelistic-Apostolic Gift Cluster

The following APEPT gifted blends are variants of the Apostolic-Evangelistic Gift Cluster:

  • Evangelistic-Apostolic
  • Evangelistic-Apostolic-Prophetic
  • Evangelistic-Apostolic-Pastoral
  • Evangelistic-Apostolic-Teaching

Evangelistic-Prophetic (EPr) Gift Cluster

Investigating Persuaders

The Prophetic Evangelist (EPr) Gift Cluster blends the primary evangelistic gifted role with a secondary emphasis on prophetic roles.  This gift mix produces “Investigating Persuaders” who may believe they are called to evaluate the issues involved in the spread of the gospel and empower others to deal with those issues.  To prepare for this type of ministry you will need to know how to share the gospel with people from different worldview & cultural backgrounds.   You may need to learn how to share the gospel effectively by adjusting the message to address the spiritual & cultural conditions in the community.  You may also need to mobilize believers in outreach in ways that are appropriate to these current realities.  The urgency you feel concerning the need to share the gospel may need to be tempered with the need to cultivate the spiritual soil around you – both among non-believers who need to hear the message and believers that need to be mobilized to share the gospel.  The intense desire and ability you have to analyze and critique the situation in which you find yourself may need to be tempered in order to both maintain a godly attitude yourself and to gain a hearing of believers who need to be mobilized.   "Doing things now while doing things better" becomes a theme that drives much of this person's orientation.

Variants of the Evangelistic-Prophetic Gift Cluster

The following APEPT gifted blends are variants of the Prophetic-Evangelistic Gift Cluster:

  • Evangelistic-Prophetic
  • Evangelistic-Prophetic-Apostolic
  • Evangelistic-Prophetic-Pastoral
  • Evangelistic-Prophetic-Teaching

Evangelistic-Pastoral (EPa) Gift Cluster

Relating Persuaders

The Pastoral Evangelist (EPa) Gift Cluster blends the primary evangelistic gifted role with a secondary emphasis on pastoral roles.  This gift mix produces “Relating Persuaders” who may believe they are called to increase evangelization activities in the community through coaching or mentoring believers in relational evangelism and fostering evangelistic collaboration within missional teams.  To prepare for this type of ministry you will need to know how to share the gospel with people from different worldview & cultural backgrounds.   You may need to develop relationships with non-believers since this will be critical to learning how to share a gospel message that addresses the worldview of non-believers in the context of relational evangelism methods.  In addition, you may need to build relationships with new converts or disciples in order to equip them in evangelism through on-the-job training as part of your missional role.   The urgency you feel concerning the need to share the gospel may need to be tempered with the need to cultivate the spiritual soil around you – both among non-believers who need to hear the message and believers that need to be mobilized to share the gospel.  Your desire to foster interpersonal relationships may also need to be tempered if the quest for harmony prevents you from addressing the worldview issues that prevent true conversion and life transformation.   "Doing things now while doing things together" becomes a theme that drives much of this person's orientation.

Variants of the Evangelistic-Pastoral Gift Cluster

The following APEPT gifted blends are variants of the Evangelistic-Pastoral Gift Cluster:

  • Evangelistic-Pastoral
  • Evangelistic-Pastoral-Apostolic
  • Evangelistic-Pastoral-Prophetic
  • Evangelistic-Pastoral-Teaching

Evangelistic-Teaching (ET) Gift Cluster

Establishing Persuaders

The Teaching Evangelist (ET) Gift Cluster blends the primary evangelistic gifted role with a secondary emphasis on teaching roles.  This gift mix produces “Establishing Persuaders” who may believe they are called to increase evangelization activities in the community through training missional leaders and organizing missional efforts.  To prepare for this type of ministry you will need to know how to share the gospel with people from different worldview & cultural backgrounds.   You may need to learn how to share the gospel effectively with people from differing backgrounds in order to train others how to guide seekers in truth discovery.  You may also need to mobilize believers in outreach through intentional evangelism training that includes understanding worldview differences.  The urgency you feel concerning the need to share the gospel may need to be tempered with the need to cultivate the spiritual soil around you – both among non-believers who need to hear the message and believers that need to be trained to share the gospel.  Your desire for efficiency and orderliness may need to be tempered if it produces a “hardening of the categories” that prevents flexibility and adaptability.  "Doing things now while doing things right" becomes a theme that drives much of this person's orientation.

Variants of the Evangelistic-Teaching Gift Cluster

The following APEPT gifted blends are variants of the Evangelistic-Teaching Gift Cluster:

  • Evangelistic-Teaching
  • Evangelistic-Teaching-Apostolic
  • Evangelistic-Teaching-Prophetic
  • Evangelistic-Teaching-Teaching
