Ephesians 4:11-12

"And He gave some as Apostles,
and some as
Prophets, and some
as
Evangelists, and some as
Pastors, and Teachers [APEPT],
for the equipping of the saints for
the work of service, to the building
up of the body of Christ."

IICM Mission Statement

Our Mission

The Intercultural Institute for Contextual Ministry (IICM) is an interdenominational, nonprofit, religious, 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization dedicated to the application of missiological concepts in the communication of the gospel and the development of congregations through research of cultural, intercultural, cross-cultural, and multicultural groups, and ethnic, lifestyle, lifestage, and religious people groups, and social environments in North America and beyond.

The IICM works to encourage congregations and various levels of fellowships, denominational groups, mission agencies, and para-church groups to understand their cultural context and to develop culturally-appropriate messages, methods, and missional strategies.  Through scholarly research, consultations, conferences, courses, and publications, the IICM intends to become the leading “think tank” for missional strategy and intercultural issues among evangelicals in North America today.

Our Vision

To provide fundamental research results, tools, and training to appropriate decision makers that enables evangelical churches, denominations, and para-church organizations to proclaim the gospel and minister more effectively interculturally among the peoples within their own sociocultural context.

Our Major Goals

  • To conduct appropriate research of the people groups, including ethnic, lifestyle, lifestage & religious segments, and social environments (including postmodern cultures) and to publish research findings that will aid ministry leaders in developing missional strategies.

  • To research case studies of cultural, intercultural, cross-cultural, and multicultural ministries who are effective in reaching people groups, population segments, and various social environments and publish findings that will provide ministry leaders with insight and training.
  • To research the ways in which faith is transmitted from person to person by way of social networks and implications for the message, methods, and mission of the church.

  • To research issues of spirituality among ethnic people groups, population segments, and social environments.

  • To develop measurement tools and processes to assess the ministry effectiveness and organizational culture of congregations, denominational groups, mission agencies, and para-church organizations and train others to use these tools and processes.
